Safe & Effective Pet Microchips in Little Rock
Microchipping is a method of providing permanent identification for your four-legged friend that can’t get lost, stolen, or damaged.
At Bowman Road Animal Clinic, we offer the PetLink microchip, a widely used product that increases your chances of safely recovering your lost pet.
According to the American Humane Association, millions of cats and dogs are found and brought to animal shelters each year.
Of the animals that come in without any ID tags or microchips, only 15 percent of dogs and 2 percent of cats are successfully reunited with tier owners.
How does microchipping work?
A microchip is a safe, simple form of identification that can significantly increase the chance of a reunion between you and your pet. Each chip has a unique number that is registered to a pet.
A microchip is about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is injected beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades in a process similar to a vaccination.
The procedure takes only a few minutes and can be completed during any visit to Bowman Road Animal Clinic.
We will register your pet’s microchip in the national pet recovery database, and you will be required to finish the registration by adding your contact information and address–remember to always keep your information up to date.
PetLink Microchip
The PetLink microchip alerts everyone that your pet has a microchip. Their registry allows for reunification anywhere, even if you're travelling abroad.
If your dog or cat is lost and someone brings them to get scanned at a vet office or shelter, the scanner reads the microchip’s unique ID registration code, and it will be used to identify your pet and retrieve your contact information. You can then be reunited with your loved one.
We recommend microchips for indoor and outdoor pets. We love happy endings to stories of lost pets, so please consider microchipping your pet today.
